On March 24, Don Bosco’s Konkan Development Society (JPN) organised an intensive employability training session for 47 students at Carmel College, Nuvem, led by resource person Mr Menino Furtado. The session aimed to demystify the Indian banking sector and transform students from unaware job hunters into informed job seekers by providing a clear roadmap for exams like SBI, IBPS, and RBI. Students were guided through the rigorous multi-stage selection process, including the Preliminary, Main, and Language Proficiency Tests, alongside a detailed syllabus breakdown covering Quantitative Aptitude, Reasoning, and English. By exploring diverse career opportunities such as Probationary Officers and RBI Grade B Officers, the training replaced uncertainty with actionable strategies, building the students' confidence to navigate banking recruitment successfully.

The primary focus of the session was to demystify the banking sector and equip students with the tools to build a successful career roadmap.

The overarching goal of the training was to bridge the critical gap between academic learning and the professional demands of the banking industry. By outlining a clear roadmap of the competitive landscape, the session aimed to empower the young women with the strategic knowledge necessary to navigate banking recruitment successfully. Ultimately, the organisers sought to transform the students from unaware job hunters into informed job seekers.

Led by resource person Mr Menino Furtado, the training offered a comprehensive deep dive into the entry points of the Indian banking system. Furtado specifically focused on decoding the rigorous, multi-stage selection processes for roles at major institutions such as SBI, IBPS, and the RBI. He broke down the examination patterns, distinguishing between the speed-and-accuracy focus of the Preliminary Examination and the more complex, analytical nature of the Main Examination. Additionally, he stressed the importance of the Language Proficiency Test (LPT) for those pursuing regional clerical roles.

Moving beyond exam structures, students were provided with a meticulous syllabus breakdown and effective preparation strategies. They received targeted guidance on navigating Quantitative Aptitude topics like Simplification and Data Interpretation, tackling Reasoning puzzles and seating arrangements, and mastering English Reading Comprehension and Error Spotting. Furthermore, they were introduced to diverse, high-growth career opportunities, ranging from Probationary Officers (POs) and Management Trainees (MTs) to specialised Grade B Officers at the RBI.

The session had a profound impact, shifting students' perspectives. Before the training, many students viewed banking exams as an impenetrable "black box". The session successfully replaced that confusion with clarity by breaking down the mark distribution and providing actionable preparation plans that included resources such as Shiksha and BankersAdda. Through interactive discussions on interview stages and descriptive writing, the training built students' confidence and alleviated anxiety about high-stakes testing. The event served as a vital catalyst, ensuring these students are no longer just "hunting" for roles, but are equipped to actively "seek" out specific career milestones.
