Experts Empower Students at Career Guidance Workshop in Goa
Aiming to help young learners make informed career choices, Don Bosco’s Konkan Development Society – Career Guidance and Placement Services, in collaboration with MLA Reginaldo Lourenco, organized a three-hour Career Guidance Workshop at the Village Panchayat Hall, Curtorim, Goa, on October 29, 2025. The event drew 100 participants, including 70 students from Classes 8 to 12 and 30 parents, highlighting the vital role of family support in shaping career decisions.
The workshop featured three dynamic sessions led by distinguished experts, offering students a holistic perspective on education and career pathways.
Mr. Noah Rodrigues, Regional Project Coordinator, Don Bosco Job Placement Network, opened the workshop with a session titled “How to Choose the Right Career Path in 7 Simple Steps.” He guided students through self-assessment tools such as the Interest Inventory and Multiple Intelligence tests, emphasizing that success begins with self-awareness. “It is no longer enough to study hard; you must study smart, and that starts with knowing yourself,” he remarked.
The second session, delivered by Colonel Jesus Benino Furtardo, Commanding Officer of the 1 Goa Battalion NCC, Panjim, and a veteran of the Kargil War, inspired students with insights into careers in the Indian Armed Forces. He outlined eligibility, training, and benefits associated with institutions like the National Defence Academy (NDA), stressing discipline and service as the foundations of a fulfilling career.
Concluding the event, Mr. Menino Furtado, a Career Guidance and Corporate Training expert, detailed diverse post-secondary options in his session, “Career Options After Class 10 and 12, Banking Jobs, Entrance Exams, and Universities.”
The workshop concluded with a vote of thanks, marking the programme as a valuable step in equipping Curtorim’s youth with clarity, confidence, and direction for their future.
