Annual Youth Retreat Deepens Faith of Over 90 Young Catholics in Itanagar Deanery

More than 90 young people from parishes across the Itanagar Diocese participated in the Annual Youth Retreat organised by the Catholic Youth Association of the Itanagar Deanery from July 17 to 19 at Holy Trinity Church, Banderdewa.
The three-day retreat sought to deepen the faith of young Catholics through prayer, reflection and fellowship. The programme was preached by Fr Avon Vaz, SFX, who led sessions on confronting life's challenges, overcoming fear, recognising human dignity, practising forgiveness and embracing Christian discipleship.
Alongside the preaching sessions, participants took part in praise and worship, the celebration of the Holy Eucharist, the Holy Rosary, the Sacrament of Reconciliation, personal prayer and interactive group activities, fostering both spiritual renewal and community building.
The retreat was organised by Fr Sunny Minj, SDB, Deanery Youth Director, in collaboration with the Executive Members of the Itanagar Deanery Catholic Youth Association. Participants also joined in prayer for Bishop Benny Varghese Edathattel, the priests, religious and faithful of the Itanagar Diocese. Special intentions were offered for individuals facing mental and emotional challenges, as well as for the success of the forthcoming Diocesan Youth Convention at Ziro.
Addressing the gathering, Fr Avon Vaz urged the youth to respond courageously to their Christian vocation. "Christ calls every young person to live without fear, to forgive generously, and to become a witness of hope in today's world," he said.
Participants described the retreat as a meaningful opportunity for spiritual growth. "This retreat has strengthened my faith and inspired me to become more active in my parish and in the mission of the Church," one participant said.
