The ANMA Integrated Development Association (AIDA), through its Don Bosco Job Placement Network (JPN) in Dimapur, organised a Career Guidance Session on Competitive Exams on February 20 at the AIDA campus, offering young aspirants preparing for various national and state-level competitive examinations much-needed direction and motivation.
Designed to provide clarity, strategic insight, and practical preparation tips, the programme focused on major examinations such as the UPSC, SSC, JEE, NEET, NPSC, and other allied tests. The initiative aimed to equip students with a realistic understanding of exam patterns, effective preparation methodologies, and the discipline necessary to succeed in highly competitive environments.
The session began with an inaugural address by Fr. Dr Roy George SDB, Executive Director of AIDA, Dimapur, who warmly welcomed the resource persons and participants. Highlighting AIDA’s ongoing commitment to youth empowerment, he spoke about the vision behind the AIDA Don Bosco Competitive Examination Self-Study Centre, established to support aspirants with limited access to structured coaching facilities. He also formally introduced and welcomed the day's speakers.
Dr Anna Lungbila Bibiana, HRD Manager, AIDA–Dimapur, felicitated the resource persons, Ms Cheenu Singh, Rehabilitation Counsellor associated with the Ministry of Labour and Employment and the Directorate General of Employment through the National Career Service Centre, and Fr. Dr A. J. Sebastian SDB, retired professor and former Head of the Department of English at Nagaland Central University.
Ms Cheenu Singh led the first technical session, offering a comprehensive overview of the competitive examination ecosystem in India. Drawing from her personal experience of clearing the SSC examination, she explained exam stages, cut-off trends, preparation strategies, and common challenges, encouraging aspirants to view failures as essential learning milestones.
The second session by Fr. Dr A. J. Sebastian SDB focused on disciplined preparation, effective time management, self-study techniques, and confidence-building. He shared insights from his guidebook, Groom to Bloom, highlighting memory-enhancement techniques and the importance of holistic personal development. He also extended personal counselling support to interested aspirants.
An interactive Q&A session emphasised regular reading habits, awareness of current affairs, online MCQ practice, and the use of standard newspapers and magazines. Proposing the vote of thanks, Mr Sebi Chacko, Programme Coordinator and AIDA–JPN Project Coordinator, acknowledged the resource persons and highlighted the open-access facilities of the AIDA Competitive Examination Self-Study Centre, which offers extensive learning resources to support focused preparation among Dimapur’s youth.
