In a spirited step toward civic responsibility, the Scouts and Guides unit of Don Bosco School and Junior College, Nashik, organized a Cleanliness Drive as part of the nationwide Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. The initiative aimed to instill awareness about hygiene, environmental care, and community service among students and the local neighbourhood.

The drive was spearheaded by Principal Fr. Rixson, along with Scouts and Guides in charge, Sir Santosh, Tr. Anagha and Tr. Laxmi. Over 100 students from Grades 8 and 9 participated, displaying enthusiasm, discipline, and teamwork throughout the event.

The cleaning campaign extended beyond the school premises to adjoining roads and a nearby public park. Equipped with gloves, masks, garbage bags, and brooms, the students formed small groups to collect litter, segregate waste, sweep pathways, and clear weeds. Corners often overlooked received special attention, reflecting the students’ commitment to thoroughness.

Beyond physical cleaning, the young participants also took on the role of awareness creators. Holding colourful placards with slogans such as “Don’t Litter – Keep Our City Clean” and “Be the Change You Want to See,” they encouraged residents to adopt sustainable cleanliness habits.

The drive concluded with a solemn pledge ceremony where students vowed to maintain cleanliness in their homes, school, and community, while also serving as ambassadors of environmental responsibility. Residents appreciated the initiative, praising the students for their energy and dedication.

For the Scouts and Guides, the drive was more than a one-day exercise. It reinforced their values of service, responsibility, and leadership, leaving a lasting impact on both the participants and the community. Small actions, they realized, can lead to meaningful change—a lesson that will resonate beyond this campaign.
