Youth Pilgrimage Rejuvenates Spirits at Don Bosco Shrine, Hyderabad
The Don Bosco Youth Pilgrimage, held at the Don Bosco Shrine in Bandlaguda Jagir, infused fresh energy and faith into young participants from the Salesian Parishes of Bandlaguda, Borabanda, and Sanathnagar. With the theme "Youth as Pilgrims of Hope," the day-long gathering blended prayer, reflection, fellowship, and celebration, drawing inspiration from the life and mission of Don Bosco.
The programme opened with an icebreaker and a welcome address by Fr. Santiagu Thomas, Provincial, who set a prayerful and hopeful tone. This was followed by sessions highlighting Don Bosco's vision for the young, including an inspiring talk by Fr. Benny, SDB, and a moving testimony from Fr. Cheruvathur James, SDB.
A practical session on the responsible use of digital media, led by Fr. Sudhakar, addressed the challenges faced by today's youth. Post lunch, Fr. Mariadas SDB animated the gathering with a reflection on Don Bosco's mission. At the same time, Fr. Santhamurthy SDB led a spirited Praise and Worship session that lifted hearts in prayer.
The spiritual high point of the pilgrimage was the Holy Eucharist, celebrated by Fr. Provincial, during which the relic of Don Bosco was venerated. In his homily, he urged the youth to be true "pilgrims of hope," reminding them of Christ's presence in their struggles and the intercession of Don Bosco. The occasion also marked the official launch of Don Bosco Youth Services' annual plan.
The event was coordinated by Fr. Joji SDB, Youth Director of the Province, who thanked the Rectors and Parish Priests for their support. He encouraged participants to make regular visits to the shrine for ongoing spiritual growth.
The day concluded with group reflections and feedback, leaving the young pilgrims spiritually strengthened and inspired to follow Don Bosco's footsteps with renewed zeal.
