En-fluence 2025: Youth-Led Innovation Drives Economic Transformation in North East India
Bosco Institute, Jorhat, became a vibrant hub of innovation and impact as it hosted En-fluence 2025, an entrepreneurial ecosystem-building summit that drew 227 registered participants from across North East India. Organized by The Hub Jorhat on November 22–23, the event showcased how youth-driven innovation can generate economic transformation, embodying Bosco Institute’s motto: “Inspire, Innovate, Involve.”
Powerful results back the institute’s sustained commitment to entrepreneurship. Eighty-four entrepreneurs trained through its programs now lead successful ventures that together have created 1,832 jobs across the region. This multiplier effect extends beyond startups: through engagements with 30+ schools and over 2,200 students, Bosco Institute demonstrates how Don Bosco institutions can nurture local talent and build resilient economies from the grassroots up.
At the core of this model is NE-Vent, a six-month incubation journey structured into a 30-day, 6-module training experience. Participants sharpen business skills, refine pitches, and build networks while designing robust business plans under the guidance of industry experts. The hallmark of NE-Vent is its continuity—ongoing mentoring both during and after incubation—culminating in a competitive pitching session where top performers receive seed funding.
This year, NE-Vent 5 champions—Dr. Geetima Deka (ShyamRenu Enterprises LLP), Yanglem Chanu Babyna (Naayeen), and Piyali Bhattacharjee (SRINIL)—each received ₹1,75,000 in seed capital. Their presence as panellists at En-fluence showcased the institute’s powerful alumni cycle: trained entrepreneurs return to mentor the next generation, reinforcing a culture of shared growth.
Three skill-driven masterclasses anchored the two-day summit. Mr. Sanjoy Sen (IIM Calcutta Innovation Park) led a session on Marketing, Mr. Varun Gupta (Srishti Manipal Institute) unpacked the strategies of Digital Marketing, and Mr. Biswajit Hazarika (Trans Virtual Pvt. Ltd.) explored Technology for Entrepreneurs, demystifying the digital tools crucial to today’s business landscape.
Strategic panels addressed core challenges and emerging opportunities. Discussions on Grassroots Entrepreneurship included NABARD along with successful founders, while a financing-focused panel brought together NEDFI and Federal Bank. The Women in Entrepreneurship panel spotlighted influential leaders, including Ms. Mayashree Baruah, Ms. Prantika Sarma, Ms. Lipokjungla Ozukum, and Ms. Selena Mutum, highlighting female-led enterprise as a cornerstone of inclusive development. The Caring for the Earth panel underscored how profitability and ecological responsibility are not mutually exclusive.
Youth creativity was celebrated through the Creative Paper Mâché Challenge, featuring 33 students from six schools. Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Lichubari, secured first place, followed by Don Bosco High School, Baghchung, and PM SHRI Kendriya Vidyalaya No. 1 AFS, Jorhat. Young innovators showcased alongside startup founders, nurturing intergenerational learning.
En-fluence illustrated how entrepreneurship advances multiple UN Sustainable Development Goals. With over 1,832 jobs created, the initiative addresses SDG 1 (No Poverty) and SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), while NE-Vent’s women-led successes advance SDG 5 (Gender Equality). Eco-conscious ventures promoted SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production) and SDG 13 (Climate Action), and the summit’s collaborative nature strengthened SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
Opening the summit, Fr. Jerry Thomas, Director of Bosco Institute, envisioned a sustained platform for knowledge exchange. Speakers, including Dr. Sriparna Baruah, Mr. Krishan Guptaa, and Mr. Shantikam Hazarika, urged young entrepreneurs to harness local resources, blend passion with skills, and think globally while contributing locally.
The summit concluded with an Entrepreneurs Huddle, an informal networking exchange fostering authentic connections and collaboration. With plans to host En-fluence biannually, Bosco Institute is setting a rhythm for entrepreneurial ecosystem-building in the Northeast.
En-fluence 2025 is more than an event—it is a blueprint. Through structured incubation, seed funding, mentorship, and youth integration, Bosco Institute proves what becomes possible when young people are trusted, trained, and empowered. The results speak clearly: 84 entrepreneurs, 1,832 jobs, and countless lives transformed.
