Youth Pasch 2025: A Journey of Faith and Fellowship

News written by: INM & INT Youth Ministry Desk

The never like before Youth Pasch, a spiritually enriching event jointly organized by the Salesian Provinces of Chennai and Trichy, transformed Ennore's Don Bosco Youth Animation Centre into a vibrant hub of faith and reflection from April 10th to April 12th, 2025. With 55 enthusiastic young participants (40 boys and 15 girls), the program immersed them into the profound spiritual journey of the Paschal Triduum. Every day featured live historical landscapes of St.Thomas, the Apostle, to immerse them into the spirit of missionary discipleship.

Day 1: A Spiritually Vibrant Start
The event began with participants arriving on the evening of April 9th, leading to the official inauguration on April 10th. Fr. John Christy, Youth Service Delegate of Chennai Province, and Fr. Charlie, Youth Service Delegate of Trichy Province, addressed the youth at the opening ceremony. Fr. Vincent Robert, Salesian Youth Movement Coordinator, inspired the youth with the program's objectives. Mementos were distributed, setting a tone of unity and spiritual anticipation. Fr. Vincent said, "With studies, stress, failures, loneliness, wounds, and broken dreams, the world has drained you… may have emptied your heart." He affirmed that the Youth Pasch is a Fountain of Living Water. Here, Jesus wants to fill your empty heart with hope, joy, forgiveness, and new energy."

Two impactful sessions followed:
1. Missionary Discipleship: Fr. Ruban conducted this session, emphasizing the calling of youth in evangelization. Many youths vouched that the interactive session was apt for their age group.
2. The Paschal Triduum: Fr. Maria Antony enriched participants with theological insights into the scriptural significance of Maundy Thursday. A youth from the Province of Trichy said, "It was a humbling experience that we washed each other's feet."

Day 2: Pilgrimage and Profound Reflections
The morning pilgrimage to St. Thomas Mount was the highlight. Fr. Rosario guided a relatable Way of the Cross, linking Christ's passion to contemporary youth struggles. Upon reaching the summit, reflective adoration led by Fr. Vikesh Joseph culminated in the Sacrament of Reconciliation, with nine confessors offering guidance and renewal. A parish youth from Vyasarpadi expressed, "This day was soothing and comforting like never before."

The afternoon's activities took participants to Annai Vailankanni Shrine, Besant Nagar, where the Divine Mercy Chaplet and quiet prayer moments allowed further spiritual growth. Later, at Don Bosco, Egmore, a high tea preceded Fr. Joseph Charles's deeply impactful Good Friday service, featuring the Veneration of the Cross.

Day 3: Resurrection and Hope
The final day began with the serene Galilee Meditation, led by Fr. Peter Balasingam at Ennore Beach. Reflecting on the Apostles' encounter with the risen Christ, this session resonated deeply with the youth. With his philosophical acumen, Fr. Maria Arockiam Kanaga, the former regional councillor for South Asia, enriched their understanding of the Resurrection and its relevance today through dynamic Q&A sessions.

The Easter Eucharist at St. Thomas Tomb Chapel brought the event to a climactic close. Celebrated by Fr. Rosario, the Mass included a heartfelt homily by Fr. John Christy, inspiring the youth to embody faith and trust in Jesus. Joyful group dynamics, games, and supper followed, leaving the participants with unforgettable memories.

Transformative Impact
The event's host, Fr. Vincent Robert, concluded, "Youth Pasch 2025 was not merely a retreat—it was a life-shaping pilgrimage." The feedback underscored its thought-provoking, transformative nature, inspiring the young participants to lead deeper, more faithful lives. Heartfelt gratitude goes to the Youth Ministry Salesian fathers, dedicated staff, and spirited youth for bringing the event to life.
