The Rector Major, Father Angel Fernandez Artime, the 10th Successor of Don Bosco, arrived at the International Hyderabad Airport on February 25 around 5.30 am to visit the Salesians and the Salesian Family members of the Salesian Province of Hyderabad. He is in the Province of Hyderabad from February 25 – 28, 2023, and continues with the Team visit from March 1– 4, 2023.

The Salesian Province of St Joseph, Hyderabad, welcomed once again the 10th Successor of Don Bosco, Fr Angel Fernandez Artime, who visited the Province in November 2016. Having arrived at the Airport in the early hours of the day, the Rector Major was welcomed to the Provincial House at 7 am by Fr Biju Michael, the Regional Councillor for South Asia, Fr Santiagu Thomas, the Provincial of Hyderabad, Fr Michael Kishore, the Vice Provincial and the Community members of Don Bosco Provincial House and BIRDY and other Salesians and friends of Don Bosco.

After spending a few moments with confreres sharing the breakfast, the Revtor Major rested for a while. Salesians of the Provincial House and BIRDY joined the Rector Major for the Holy Mass at BIRDY Youth Chapel at 11.30 am. During the Mass, he invited everyone to ask the Heavenly Father to give a heart like that of Jesus Christ to overcome the human tendency to be powerful over the delicate and delicate with the powerful like the Pharisees.

At a cultural programme, the first public event of the day, the RM was welcomed with a guard of honour and a classical dance. The lighting of the lamp with children dressed as Don Bosco, Mama Margaret and Dominic Savio recalled their spiritual presence and the bountiful blessings received through the visit of the Rector Major.

In his message, he narrated the story of a man who visited him three days ago and told him how grateful he was to the Salesians of Don Bosco for educating him and being patient with him despite troubling them much. He is now well-settled in life. If not for the Salesians, he would be a prisoner. It was a heart-touching experience, said the Rector Major. He said, "education is a wonderful garment for any nation. It does not just contribute to the present but gives a future.” He expressed his gratitude to the Salesians who are doing their part here in India in education to build students who are confident to face their future. Singing and dancing by the children with the teachers was a feast for the eyes.
