The scouts and guides from Don Bosco School, Guwahati, the band players and the students of Don Bosco KUmarikata filled the air with music in the presence of the 10th Successor of Don Bosco for the centenary celebrations. A troupe of traditional dancers with graceful steps of Bihu accompanied RM Angel and Father Biju Michael, the regional superior. Young people dressed in their attire of the different tribes of the Northeast showcased the beauty and richness of the place among whom the Salesians have served joyfully for the last 100 years. 

Father Januarius S. Sangma, Provincial of Guwahati, welcomed the Rector Major and spoke to the gathering about the milestone and the gratitude of the region towards the Salesians for their untiring zeal and mission. “Looking at the past 100 years, we see uncountable blessings, so we look at the past with gratitude, celebrate the present passionately and look to the future with greater determination,” said Father Januarius. The welcome song and performance by the students of Don Bosco Institute and Don Bosco Institute of Management Guwahati enlivened the gathering. The Student groups from Guwahati sang the centenary anthem. A beautiful display of the Tiwa tribal dance by the children from Umswai, Karbi Anglong, captured the hearts of all. 

The Past-pupils and Salesian Co-operators felicitated the Rector Major expressing their joy at the presence of Don Bosco amidst them. The RM addressing the Assam missions and the centenary celebrations said, “Works that are inspired by the Holy Spirit and have their roots in God always bear fruit and do not end.” 

After the talk, RM blessed and inaugurated the centenary monument prepared to commemorate the contribution of Salesians to the Northeastern region of India. The monument was set up with the help of the Past-pupils who continue to enjoy God’s blessings through their connection with Don Bosco.
