XVI South Zone Conference of Salesian Co-operators at Goa

The XVI Southern zonal conference of Association of Salesian Co-operators and Provincial Delegates from SDB and FMA of 6 Provinces of Goa-Panjim, Bangalore, Trichy, Chennai, Mumbai and Hyderabad participated in the conference hosted by the Province of Panjim at Pilar Fathers house, Panjim-Goa from January 13 to 14.

The conference commenced with the flag hoisting by the Provincial of Panjim, Father Clive Telles and the inaugural ceremony with the lighting of a lamp by Father Telles SDB. Regional Delegate, Salesian Family Father Joseph Manipadam, Provincial Delegate, Panjim Province, Father Anisio Mota, World Councillor, Mr. T K Devasiaand and South Zone Facilitator, Mr. A.Jesuraj were present on the occasion.

Father Telles, in his inaugural address, highlighted his vocation in the Salesian congregation and invited all the Salesian Co-operators to be the instrument for vocation. Father Manipadam spoke about the role of lay Salesian Co-operators in the Salesian Family. Father Mota, in his welcome address, wished and thanked the participants. 

Father Gilbert Choondal, Provincial delegate of Bangalore Province, presented on Don Bosco’s Dream of Salesian Co-operators. Mr. Devasia, World Councillor for South Asia, animated Don Bosco’s vision of a Co-operator. Father Manipadam spoke on the Role of Salesian Co-operators in the salvation of youth along with the Salesians. Mr. Arokia Arasu, Regional Formation-in-charge, presented the various stages of formation and highlighted the sources of formation materials at the local and provincial level formation. Father Joe Prabhu, Executive Director of YaR sector, New Delhi, animated on Salesian Co-operators and the Young at Risk. Father Benzelao Teixeira, Vice Provincial of Panjim Province, celebrated the Holy Eucharist on the first day of the conference.

Father Choondal listed the deliberations to execute at the local and provincial levels. The Economer of the Province of Panjim, Father Francis Silveira, in his good-night talk, emphasized the providence of Mother Mary in constructing the Provincial house at Odxel, Goa and thanked everyone for choosing Panjim Province.

On behalf of the Panjim Province, Mrs. Lynett, Provincial secretary, expressed their gratitude to everyone. The conference was officially closed with the south zone flag lowered and handed to the next host, the Province of Hyderabad. The participants had a pilgrimage to the Basilica of Saint Francis Xavier at Old Goa.
