Chennai Salesians `Relief With Dignity` Sustains Migrants

The devastating COVID-19 gobal pandemic triggered off a humanitarian criss of unprecedented proportions across the globe. It was more severe in India, where people migrate in search of jobs and livelihood almsot on a daily basis. These were left stranded, distressed and desolate in the wake of the COVID-19. In this deplorable scenario, the Chennai Salesians [INM], through theier Province Planning and Development Office [PDO], conceived of a novel idea to sustain these vulnerable stranded.
In order to contain the devastating economic effects caused by the COVID-19 pandemic on the population of Chennai, Project Releif With Dignity has been initiated. This project aims to offer paid work to migrants who have returned to their villages. To make this livelihood-sustenance project an actuality, 100 gardens have been set up. This is to help promote the cultivation, distribution of food and economic sustenance for those who otherwise are rendered jobless, unemployed and deprived.
