Indian Salesian Father Stephen Kuncherakatt Passes Away in Jerusalem

Indian Salesian Father Stephen Kuncherakatt, aged 86, passed away at 22:30 hours on 02 June 2020 in Jerusalem. Ailing from and battling `cancer` since quite some time, he was hospitalised, where he breathed his last.
Father Kuncherakatt originally belonged to the Salesian Province of St. Thomas the Apostle Chennai [INM]. At the time of his demise, he was in residence at the Salesian Monastery-Ratisbonne in Jerusalem, of the Salesian Province of Ges� Adolescente [Adolescent Jesus] the Middle East [MOR].
Expressing his sentiments of sadness, Father Maria Charles Secretary, CBCI Office for Education and Culture and former Inchrage of the Don Bosco Youth Animation [DBYA] South Asia. wrote on his Facebook wall post, ``Father Stephen had a heart of gold. He was my Rector in SHC and earlier he was Confessor and I was assistant in the novitiate. He was fatherly and never in his life stooped down to malign or manipulate. He did what his heart dictated him. He quietly helped so many people, though he himself did not own any money. Salesian spirit personified. He has taught all of us how to live a holy and a dignified life. Miss him a lot. Rest in the Father`s abode dear Father Stephen!``
Father John Christy, Rector of the SIGA [Salesian Institute of Graphic Arts] Polythecnic College Community at Kilpauk-Chennai commented on his Facebook wall post, ``Usually God sends us beautiful gifts. Today the Salesian Society sends to heaven the most beautiful gift in Fr Stephen, a bunch of roses that will decorate the Paradise. Thank you Lord for giving us such a wonderful Salesian. Today we offer him back to you. RIP dear Father Stephen.``
Father Glenford Lowe-MumbaiSalesians` Provincial Councillor for Youth Ministry and Communications commented on Facebook, ``Rest In Peace dear Father Stephen... my professor of theology and Rector at Kristu Jyoti College KJC Bangalore from 1985-87.``
Others- Salesians, students, formees and those associated with Father Kuncherakatt recollected his genial, amiable and affable personality as a formator and confessor, after the heart of Don Bosco.
