Chief Minister Inaugurates Aquatic Complex at Don Bosco, Vaduthala

The newly constructed Aquatic Complex at Don Bosco, Vaduthala, was blessed by Fr. Thomas Anchukandam (Salesian Provincial of the Sacred Heart Province of Bangalore) and inaugurated by Sri Oommen Chandy, Chief Minister of Kerala, on 11 Oct 2014.
The chief minister in his speech declared that his government has a plan to introduce training in swimming for school students. He praised the efforts of Don Bosco to impart skills for a successful life along with excellence in education.
The dignitaries were received by the school band and welcomed by Fr. Paulson Kannappilly (Rector, Don Bosco, Vaduthala). Fr. Babu Manissery (Principal) presented a memento to the Chief Minister. The dignitaries present included Hibi Eden and Loodi Louis (MLAs), Tony Chammany (Mayor, Cochin Corporation), Adv. Leslie Stephen, Delina Pinheiro, PS Manikandarajan (Corporation Councillors), KK Suresh Babu (Grama Panchayat President, Cheranalloor), S. Pradeep Kumar (National Swimming Trainer) and Salesian authorities of Don Bosco.
The aquatic complex has a swimming pool 25 metres long and 16 metres wide, besides gymnasium and a hall. The pool is fit for swimming competitions and recreation. It has been built for developing the swimming skills primarily of students. The membership is open also to the public.
