News reported by: Fr. Blasius Tete sdb, IND
The Salesian Province of St. Francis de Sales, Dimapur, brought together its Rectors and confreres entrusted with various responsibilities for a two-day meeting on October 22 and 23, followed by the celebration of Provincial Community Day at the Don Bosco Provincial House.
The Rectors and In-Charges Meeting 2026 focused on formation, mission priorities, institutional accountability, youth ministry and strategic planning, enabling participants to reflect on the challenges and opportunities facing the Salesian mission.
Formation, Mission and Renewed Direction
The first day focused on EPC and SEPP, Mission Poverty Eradication (MPE), the New Ratio and ecological responsibility.
The Provincial animated the session on EPC and SEPP, highlighting the importance of aligning pastoral and educational priorities with the Salesian mission and its preferential commitment to young people.
Fr. Tony Pellissery led the session on Mission Poverty Eradication, urging confreres to make the Salesian mission increasingly responsive to the needs of the poor and marginalised through education, empowerment, accompaniment and concrete initiatives.
Sessions on the New Ratio, conducted by Fr. Thomas Vengakunnel, Fr. Samuel Elow and Fr. Philip Kamei, explored the directions and expectations of Salesian formation, emphasising the importance of ongoing formation in responding to contemporary religious and apostolic challenges.
Fr. P. X. Andrew led a session on the Green Alliance, highlighting Salesian communities' responsibility to promote ecological awareness and care for the common home.
Accountability, Youth Ministry and Future Planning
The second day addressed institutional responsibility, youth ministry, financial administration and provincial planning.
Fr. Theotimus led the session on Salesian Youth Ministry (SYM), reaffirming the centrality of young people in the Salesian mission and the need for communities to provide spaces for accompaniment, formation and integral growth.
The session on accounts, animated by the Provincial Economer, Fr. Economer, emphasised transparency, accountability and prudent stewardship of resources, underscoring the connection between financial administration and responsible service to the mission.
Fr. Roy George presented AIDA, followed by a session on PC16 conducted by Fr. Regi Mani. The discussions focused on key areas of provincial responsibility and the effective functioning of Salesian communities and institutions.
A key highlight was Fr. John Paul Vemo's presentation of the Province Annual Plan 2027. The plan outlined priorities and initiatives to translate the Province’s vision into concrete programmes at community and institutional levels.
The afternoon session on the Province's concerns provided a platform for open dialogue and collective reflection on challenges facing the Salesian mission. Participants stressed the importance of fraternity, communication, mutual support and collaborative leadership.
Provincial Community Day Celebrates Salesian Brotherhood
The meeting culminated in the celebration of Provincial Community Day on October 23 at the Don Bosco Provincial House, Dimapur.
The celebration brought confreres together in a spirit of gratitude, fraternity and communion, offering an opportunity to renew their bonds as members of one Salesian religious family.
The programme began with the celebration of the Holy Eucharist, during which the confreres thanked God for the gift of their Salesian vocation, the life and mission of the Province and the blessings of their apostolic service.
The Eucharistic celebration was followed by a felicitation programme honouring confreres and acknowledging their contributions to the Province's life and mission.
