Don Bosco KDS Trains 18 Goa Students in Career Readiness
News reported by: Mr. Noah Rodrigues (INP JPN C)
Don Bosco’s Konkan Development Society (KDS), through its Job Placement Network, conducted a two-day career-readiness workshop for 18 students at Goa College of Home Science, Campal, Panaji, on October 9 and 12, equipping them with practical skills to enter the job market.
The programme aimed to bridge the gap between academic learning and professional expectations by helping students develop effective resumes, strengthen interpersonal skills and gain confidence in recruitment processes.
The first session, held on October 9, focused on resume writing and professional communication. Under the module “How to Write a Resume That Stands Out,” participants learned to present their qualifications, skills, and achievements in a way that matters to prospective employers. The soft skills component emphasised effective communication, professional etiquette and interpersonal abilities essential for workplace success.
The workshop continued on October 12 with a session titled “Own the Room: From Being Nervous to Noteworthy.” Students learned techniques to manage interview anxiety and strengthen their professional presence. The training covered body language, posture, eye contact, and voice projection to help participants communicate with greater confidence.
Mock interviews formed the programme's practical component. Students faced simulated recruitment situations and responded to challenging, job-related questions. Facilitators provided individual feedback on their answers, communication styles, and overall presentation, helping them identify areas for improvement.
