The Salesian Province of St. Francis de Sales, Dimapur, organised basic Tally and Excel training at the Provincial House on August 17 for its newly appointed administrators.
The initiative aimed to strengthen the accounting, financial management and administrative skills of personnel managing Salesian institutions across Nagaland, Manipur, Arunachal Pradesh and Upper Assam. Seventeen participants attended the course.
Fr Devasia Rajeesh, SDB, Provincial Economer, and Mr Lelin Kujur, Senior Accountant at the Provincial House, conducted the Tally training. They were assisted by Rosemay from Data Management and Anamika and James, Accountants at the Provincial House.
The participants received practical training in essential accounting operations, including company and ledger creation, opening balances, fixed assets, income and expenditure, receipts and payments, contra and journal entries, bank reconciliation, and fixed deposit entries.
The course also covered day books, trial balances, monthly reports, printing and exporting financial reports, and data backup and restoration. The hands-on approach equipped the new administrators to manage finances accurately and efficiently in their respective institutions.
A Basic Course in Excel for Accounting and Finance was also organised as part of the training programme. Dr Fr Mattam Xavier, SDB, served as the resource person for the Excel sessions.
The Excel training focused on practical digital competencies for accounting and financial administration, including data handling, organisation, analysis and reporting. It helped the new administrators use digital tools more effectively in their day-to-day responsibilities.
