Eighty-four young aspirants attended a two-day orientation programme at Rua Home, Jorhat, on July 26–27. The programme aimed to strengthen their spiritual, personal, and vocational formation.

The programme was led by Fr. Theotimus Lakra, SDB, with the assistance of Brothers Dhiraj Bhengra and Phikow Paul. Through workshops, mentoring sessions, and interactive activities, the participants were guided to discern their vocation and to build values and skills for service.

The opening day centred on self-discovery and the journey of formation. Addressing the participants, Fr. Lakra said the programme aimed not only to prepare young men for religious life but also to shape responsible citizens committed to ethical leadership and service to society.

“Our primary objective is to accompany these young men at this important stage of their lives,” Fr. Lakra said. “We are forming individuals who will contribute positively to their communities.”

The second day focused on practical life skills, discipline, and social responsibility, underscoring the Salesian mission to help young people become agents of positive change. Sessions linked personal growth directly to community welfare.

Reflecting on the programme, one participant said the experience broadened his understanding of vocation and service. “I used to think my future was a personal journey. This programme helped me realise that my growth is closely linked to the well-being of my community,” he said.
