The Salesian Province of Mary Help of Christians, Guwahati, celebrated the Religious Profession of fifteen young novices on May 24, as they embraced the Salesian way of life through their First Profession during solemn ceremonies held simultaneously at Sunnyside, Shillong, and Emmaus Novitiate, Zubza.

The celebrations, marked by prayer, thanksgiving, and hope for the Congregation's future, drew Salesians, family members, benefactors, parishioners, and well-wishers who gathered to witness this significant milestone in the young brothers' lives.

At Sunnyside, the Eucharistic celebration was presided over by Fr John Zosiama. The Mass was concelebrated by Fr Sebastian Kuricheal, Fr Jeevan Lakra, and several Salesian priests.

During the liturgy, the novices publicly professed the vows of poverty, chastity, and obedience, committing themselves to follow Christ in the spirit of St John Bosco. The congregation joined in prayer for the perseverance and fidelity of the newly professed Salesians in their vocation.

Meanwhile, at St Maria Goretti Church, the Eucharistic celebration was presided over by Fr Joseph Pampackal. Concelebrants included Fr Bivan R. Mukhim, Fr Deli Kapani, and several confreres.

Parents, relatives, parishioners, friends, and well-wishers filled the church to witness the occasion and encourage the young brothers as they began their religious journey within the Salesian Congregation.

In their messages during the celebrations, the celebrants encouraged the newly professed Salesians to remain rooted in prayer, humility, community life, and missionary zeal. They reminded the brothers that Religious Profession is not merely a ceremony but the beginning of a lifelong journey of dedication to God and service to the young, especially the poor and abandoned, in the spirit and charism of Don Bosco.

The Province of Guwahati expressed gratitude to the parents and families for generously offering their sons to the service of God and the Church and assured the newly professed Salesians of continued prayers and support in their vocational journey.
