The seventh edition of NE-VENT, an entrepreneurship incubation programme for aspiring women entrepreneurs in Northeast India, was inaugurated by The Hub Jorhat at Bosco Institute, marking the beginning of a six-month incubation journey for 26 emerging entrepreneurs.

Fr. Jerry Thomas, Director of Bosco Institute, welcomed the gathering and traced the institution’s evolution from a centre of academic excellence to a dynamic incubation platform that supports grassroots entrepreneurship. He commended the participants for their courage and initiative, underscoring the importance of nurturing entrepreneurial aspirations and building a culture of innovation in the region.

The inaugural session featured a keynote address by Patricia Mukhim, Editor of The Shillong Times and noted social activist. She stressed the critical role of courage, market awareness, and aptitude-based learning in entrepreneurial success. Encouraging participants to embrace setbacks as part of the journey, she highlighted the value of mentorship and continuous learning in navigating the business landscape.

Adding further perspective, Y.R. Wilson Mariadoss, an HR leader, entrepreneur, and mentor, inspired participants with insights on mindset, resilience, and inner strength as essential traits for sustained entrepreneurial growth.

The event featured key institutional representatives, including NESSIA, NABARD, the District Industries and Commerce Centre, Jorhat, the Upper Assam Chambers of Commerce, ESAF Small Finance Bank, and Birangana Sati Sadhani Rajyik Vishwavidyalaya. A key highlight of the inaugural programme was an exhibition by women incubatees, showcasing a diverse range of products that reflected creativity, innovation, and entrepreneurial potential. The displays underscored the programme’s focus on practical exposure and market readiness.

The event concluded with an interactive session that fostered dialogue, peer learning, and community building among participants and stakeholders. The discussions reinforced the importance of collaborative ecosystems in nurturing entrepreneurship in the Northeast.

Among the invited dignitaries were Kangkan Jyoti Hargoria, Senior Manager at the Assam Innovation & Startup Foundation; Pankaj Baruah, Head of Startup Programs at the IIM Calcutta Innovation Park; Nidhi Gupta; and Syeda Fatima Bint Mazid, Co-founder and Director of Bafa Bags India Pvt. Ltd.
