Fifty-five Salesian priests and brothers took part in a three-day ongoing formation programme on Psychosexual Integrity and Celibate Maturity, held from February 3 to 5 in the Salesian Province of St Joseph, Hyderabad. The programme formed part of the province’s ongoing formation initiative and was animated by Fr P. O. Jose, SDB.
The sessions were marked by deep personal reflection, group sharing, and open discussions, creating a safe and engaging space for participants to examine their personal and pastoral lives. Over the course of the programme, Fr Jose addressed key themes including the meaning and practice of celibate chastity, contemporary challenges to celibate life, psychosexual growth, boundary violations, sexual scandals, and the importance of healthy heterosexual relationships. His inputs combined sound psychological insight with pastoral sensitivity, enabling participants to approach sensitive issues with maturity, responsibility, and clarity.

Interactive group discussions and question-and-answer sessions allowed participants to engage freely with the themes and clarify doubts. Many participants appreciated the practical perspectives and learning materials shared during the programme, describing them as valuable resources for continued reflection and growth in their vocation.

Sharing his experience, Fr Mullangi Gupta noted that the sessions fostered honest self-examination and renewed commitment to authentic, integrated, and mature celibate living. On behalf of the participants, he expressed heartfelt gratitude to Fr Jose for the enriching and deeply formative sessions, his gentle yet firm guidance, and his compassionate listening and response to concerns.

The programme concluded with a strong sense of renewed commitment among the participants, who expressed gratitude for the opportunity to reflect deeply on their vocation and to strengthen both their personal integrity and pastoral responsibility.
