Mini Job Fair Tackles Youth Unemployment, Strengthens Industry Links
Don Bosco Avsar Chinchwad took a proactive step in addressing the growing crisis of youth unemployment by organizing the Mini Job Fair 2025. Invitations were sent to young job seekers, particularly college and ITI students who were struggling to find employment. The fair focused on roles in the manufacturing and housekeeping sectors, complemented by a week-long training initiative to refresh and upgrade candidates' technical skills before interviews.
A total of 16 companies participated in the fair, engaging directly with 73 applicants. Notable representatives included Dexterity Company, MG Company, Tata Motors, VN Management, BVG, QA Tech, Majestic Solution, Growus Auto, Hydraflex, Brainsitter, Growel, BU Bhandari, Butterfly Consultancy, Laxmi Motors, Big Bisan, and Blue Star. Through formal interviews and informal interactions, the companies assessed both technical suitability and candidates' ability to adapt to workplace environments.
The fair was inaugurated by Fr. Jeffrey Fernandes, who underscored the urgency of tackling rising youth unemployment. He highlighted the crucial role of soft skills—communication, confidence, and interview etiquette—in determining employability. Drawing from his experience as a technician and former Principal of Don Bosco Kurla, Fr Fernandes shared practical insights with dignitaries and participants, offering a grounded view of industry expectations.
Prominent guests at the inauguration included Ms Lolita Mendonca, Province DB Avsar Coordinator, along with Mr Angelo Mascarenhas, Mr Nilesh Chandgude, Mr Cyril Crasto, and Mr Minin Lobo, who lent support to the institute's mission of empowering young job seekers.
Post-event feedback from participating firms revealed a recurring pattern: many candidates lacked essential soft skills and interview preparedness despite meeting technical requirements. In response, DB Avsar staff announced plans to organize Mini Job Fairs regularly, with a sharper focus on soft skill enhancement and structured refresher training. The institute aims to build a system that benefits companies and candidates equally—from improved employability to reliable recruitment.
Don Bosco Avsar Chinchwad also discussed its future activity roadmap with partner companies, exploring deeper collaborations to bridge the gap between training institutions and industry. Though still in its developmental phase, the institute is gradually emerging as a pivotal hub in the local employment ecosystem, committed to shaping youth into confident, job-ready professionals.
