Don Bosco Byndihati Celebrates Culture and Global Unity
Don Bosco College, Byndihati, came alive on October 31 as it hosted its grand Cultural Fest 2025 under the theme “Bridging Cultures as Digital Natives and Global Citizens.” The vibrant celebration brought together students from diverse ethnic communities, reflecting the cultural richness of Northeast India while also embracing a global, digitally aware outlook.
The day began with a colourful Cultural Procession followed by an invocation and welcome address by Principal Fr. Daniel Cajee. The inaugural ceremony was graced by Mr. Sankey Shangpung, MDC of Bataw-Lakadong constituency and Chairman of JHADC, who officially declared the fest open. A series of captivating performances set the stage alight—ranging from the Mizo & Biate Song and Reang Dance by the Tripuri group to the graceful Tamang Selo and the traditional Shad Synrai of the Khasi and Jaintia communities. Students also took the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan Pledge, affirming their commitment to a drug-free life.
A highlight of the morning was the release of “Glimpses: Poetic Musings,” the college’s first publication, by the Chief Guest. The session concluded with an address by Mr. Saljong R. Marak, MCS, and the opening of cultural stalls and exhibits.
The afternoon session, graced by Chief Guest Mrs. Violet Lyngdoh, MDC of Khliehriat-Rymbai, featured more enthralling performances, including the Biije Panye, Mebur Lamlian Lehhlam, Mamita, and Shad Nongkyndong dances, along with a Mizo play Ral a lian e. A cultural runway showcasing traditional attire and the awards ceremony concluded the event, celebrating unity in diversity and the spirit of global citizenship.
