The Salesian Province of Guwahati joyfully celebrated the Jubilee of Confreres and Province Community Day 2025 on Saturday, October 18, at the Provincial House, Panbazar, bringing together Salesians from across the province in thanksgiving for the gift of consecrated life. The celebration honoured confreres marking their Golden and Silver Jubilees of religious commitment, recognizing decades of dedicated service to the Church and society. The jubilarians have made remarkable contributions to education, pastoral ministry, and social development across North East India, devoting their lives to nurturing the young and fostering holistic education in the spirit of Don Bosco.

The Golden Jubilarians, Fr. Joseph Puthenpurackal, and Fr. Joseph Thelekkatt, are among the most respected educators and formators in the province. Both have served in prominent Salesian institutions, shaping the character and future of countless students. Fr. Thelekkatt, who also served as Vice Provincial and later as Provincial, played a key role in initiating and developing the Salesian missions in Tripura and Mizoram.

Other Golden Jubilarians —  Fr. Thomas Annikuzhikathil, Fr. Francis Kalariparampil, and  Fr. Thomas John Koitharaputhenpura, — have held vital administrative roles such as Province Secretary and Principal of various educational institutions. Their commitment to excellence and pastoral sensitivity has left a lasting impact on the Salesian educational mission in the region.

The Silver Jubilarians of ordination and first profession continue to serve in parishes and schools across the North East. They remain steadfast in their mission of accompanying the young, especially the marginalized. Notably, Rev. Fr. Aloysius Halge Roland, SDB, who served in the Indian Air Force before entering the Salesian congregation, is an inspiring example of dedication and service to God’s call.

In his reflection, Fr. Thelekkatt expressed heartfelt gratitude to God for His enduring faithfulness and spoke of the joy of serving the Lord through the Salesian vocation. He also thanked Fr. Sebastian Kuricheal, the Provincial, for his leadership and guidance in sustaining the mission of the province. In his keynote address, Fr. Kuricheal appreciated the jubilarians for their years of faithful service and joyful witness to the Salesian charism. He emphasized, "Your perseverance and fidelity continue to inspire younger confreres and strengthen the community’s mission of education and evangelization."

The celebration beautifully blended tradition and innovation, reflecting the spirit of gratitude, fraternity, and renewal that marks Salesian life. From the prayerful Eucharist to the creative AI-powered tribute and joyful songs, every moment echoed a deep sense of unity and thanksgiving. The day concluded with renewed commitment to Don Bosco’s mission, as confreres and communities rejoiced together in faith, service, and brotherhood.
