Don Bosco High School and Junior College in Naigaon, Mumbai, celebrated its 25th Annual Thanksgiving Day on February 1, marking the conclusion of its Silver Jubilee celebrations. The event brought together students, alums, staff, and distinguished guests to reflect on the school’s growth and future. With the theme “Hold My Hand,” the event highlighted the mission of St. John Bosco, whose principles continue to guide the institution.

With heartfelt gratitude and excitement, over 800 students showcased their talents through various performances. From a musical celebration to a touching documentary chronicling the school’s history, the event embodied the spirit of community and progress. Past pupils also participated, offering personal tributes on the occasion. The evening culminated in the theatrical musical “Hold My Hand,” representing the school’s vision to empower young minds to grow into responsible citizens.

Father Dominic Martis, the Rector, welcomed the audience and reflected on the school’s remarkable journey over the past 25 years. He praised the collective efforts of everyone who contributed to the institution’s growth and success and highlighted the dedication that made the Silver Jubilee possible.

Father Savio Silveira, the Salesian Provincial of the Mumbai Province, presided over as the Chief Guest. He inaugurated and blessed the school’s newly constructed third floor, symbolizing the institution’s continued expansion. In his speech, Father Silveira expressed deep gratitude to Father William Falcao, the school’s founder and first principal, for his vision and commitment to establishing the institution. He noted that Father Falcao’s foresight laid the foundation for the school’s success, allowing it to flourish into a beacon of education.

Father Silveira also emphasized the evening theme, “Hold My Hand,” drawing on St. John Bosco’s belief in guiding young people toward the light of knowledge, goodness, and service. He reminded everyone that the school’s motto, “Let Your Light Shine,” was about academic achievement and cultivating compassion, truth, and service. He urged the students to take this “light” into the world, embodying Don Bosco’s legacy of service to the marginalized and the needy.

The Silver Jubilee celebrations also included a documentary titled Transforming Lives, directed by Vice-Principal Father Joaquim Fernandes, which chronicled the school’s journey from its humble beginnings. Father William Falcao, the Administrator, shared the challenges faced during the school’s early years and described the school’s growth as a process of overcoming obstacles, similar to the cracking of a coconut shell that allows new life to emerge. The event also honoured long-serving staff members, including Mr Pankaj Pandey, for his 25 years of dedicated service.

Father Anthony Fonseca, the current Principal, expressed gratitude to the entire school community for their hard work and support in making the Silver Jubilee a success.
