The Don Bosco National Forum for the Young at Risk (YaR) launched a comprehensive new Child Safeguarding Policy and Essential Protocols at the closing ceremony of the Extraordinary Visitation, held at the Provincial House, New Delhi, on 30th May. It marked a significant step toward strengthening Don Bosco YaR Forum’s commitment to child protection. The policy establishes strong protocols, rules and response procedures to provide a safe and loving environment for children and young people in all Don Bosco YaR institutions and programs.

The book was launch by Rev. Fr. Biju Michael SDB, Regional Councilor and President of SPCSA. The other distinguished dignitaries present included Fr. Davis Maniparamben SDB, Provincial of the New Delhi Province, Fr. Joseph Manippadeth SDB, Rector of SPCI House, Fr. Joe Prabu SDB, Executive Director of the DB National Forum for Young at Risk and Fr. Edward Sacrawat SDB, YaR Coordinator of New Delhi Province, along with 45 Salesians, Rectors and Leaders of Salesian communities.

Fr. Biju Michael emphasized the profound importance of the policy and appreciated the efforts of everyone involved in its creation. He said, "We are here today to celebrate the publishing of our Child Safeguarding Policy, a significant step in our commitment to ensuring the well-being and protection of all children in our region.” He added that the Salesians and Staff members ought to shoulder full responsibility for executing the policy in their own centers and provinces. Fr. Biju Michael unveiled the first copy and presented it to Rev. Fr. Davis Maniparamben. Copies of the same were handed over to the members present.

The Executive Director Fr. Joe Prabu highlighted the transformative potential of the policy. "With proper implementation, our institutions shall transform into safer and more caring sanctuaries where young people can truly flourish," he remarked. He also acknowledged everyone who contributed to developing the extensive document.

Ms. Moumita, the National Program Coordinator of YaR Forum, provided a summary of the policy, covering the norms, ethical codes of conduct and detailed response procedures that ensure the safety and well-being of all children.

Copies of the book will be distributed to all the Salesian communities through their respective province office for further dissemination and implementation.
