15 Salesians Ordained Priests at Chennai
The evening of December 27 was memorable for the Salesians of Chennai Province as 15 young Salesian deacons were ordained priests at Our Lady of Lourdes Shrine, Perambur, Chennai. Most Rev. Dr George Antonysamy, Archbishop of Madras-Mylapore, presided over the Eucharistic celebration and conferred the ordination.
The Holy Eucharist was concelebrated by Father Don Bosco Lourdusamy, Provincial of the Salesian Province of Chennai (INM), Father Agilan Saraprasadam, Provincial of the Salesian Province of Tiruchy (INT), Father John Alexander, Vice-Provincial of Salesian Province of Chennai (INM) and more than 250 religious and diocesan priests.
The service was attended by nearly 2300 people, including parents and relatives of those ordained, religious sisters, parishioners and youngsters of various parishes. Among those ordained, 13 belonged to the Salesian Province of Chennai, one belonged to the Salesian Province of Tiruchy, and another was a missionary belonging to the Salesian Province of Paraguay. The Salesian Community and the Parishioners of Lourdes Shrine, Perambur, planned and executed the service.
