Under the theme "Fostering a Culture of Vocation," the Vocational Guidance team of Don Bosco Youth Animation South Asia organized an event for vocation guidance coordinators and promoters at Don Bosco Institute in Guwahati from 14th to 17th July 2023. The gathering aimed to unite the participants in their mission of promoting a Salesian youth ministry with vocation at its core.

The event was coordinated by Fr. Gabriel Karunaraj, the coordinator for vocational guidance in Don Bosco Youth Animation South Asia, who set the tone for the gathering with his welcome address. The attendees were further inspired by the opening talk delivered by Rt. Rev. Archbishop Thomas Menamparambil, who emphasized the importance of assisting young individuals in discovering God's plan for their lives and making meaningful choices.

Throughout the event, insightful presentations were delivered by Fr. Blany Pinto, Fr. Velasali Bandya, Fr. Praveen Antony, and Fr. Patrick Lepcha. Each speaker delved into various dimensions of Salesian Accompaniment, Vocational Animation, and the integration of vocation into the broader context of youth ministry. Their presentations provided valuable insights and strategies for nurturing a culture that encourages young individuals to discern and embrace their unique vocations.

A key highlight of the event was the participation of Most Rev. Archbishop Thomas Menamparambil, whose presence added significant value to the discussions. With great passion, the Archbishop underscored the importance of instilling in the youth a sense of purpose and direction. He highlighted that by assisting them in understanding and embracing their vocations, they would not only find fulfillment but also contribute positively to society and the world at large.

The attendees also had the opportunity to engage in group discussions on topics like Educative and Pastoral Community, Salesian Educative and Pastoral Project, Salesian Youth Ministry, and Animation Structures. These discussions allowed for the sharing of best practices and experiences, fostering a sense of collaboration and shared commitment.

The event also unveiled the Vocational Guidance Plan for the South Asian region, featuring six key action points. Among them are promoting a proper understanding of vocational guidance, enhancing the educative pastoral community with a focus on vocational aspects, and encouraging young people to explore human and Christian vocation.

Fr. Clive Tellas, the Provincial of Panjim, played a crucial role as the guiding force behind the Vocation Guidance segment. His unwavering support and encouragement uplifted the spirits of the coordinators and promoters, instilling a sense of pride and commitment to their pivotal roles.

The organizers expressed their heartfelt gratitude to Fr. Janarius Sangma, the Provincial of Guwahati Province, and Fr. Joseph Terron, the Vice Provincial, for their generous support and hospitality throughout the event. They also extended their thanks to Fr. Marcus, the Youth Ministry Delegate of the province, for his meticulous attention to detail in making the event a resounding success.

As the event concluded, the participants left with a renewed sense of commitment and enthusiasm, ready to implement the insights gained in their respective regions. The Salesian congregation aims to foster a positive and transformative impact on the lives of young individuals, creating a culture where vocation is celebrated as a unifying and empowering principle.

The annual meet, organized by the Vocational Guidance team of Don Bosco Youth Animation South Asia, has not only strengthened the bonds among vocation guidance coordinators and promoters but also enhanced their collective ability to guide and support the young people they serve. Through their collaborative efforts, they are committed to nurturing a culture of vocation within the Salesian youth ministry.
