Kolkata Province hosts Youth Ministry Training for Young Salesians

Salesian Province of Kolkata hosted first ever Youth Ministry Training for Young Salesians of North and North-Eastern provinces of New Delhi, Dimapur, Guwahati, Shillong and Kolkata from September 13-17, at Nitika Don Bosco, Kolkata.

Don Bosco Youth Animation South Asia director Father Patrick Lepcha, with the Youth delegates of Chennai Father John Christy and New Delhi Father Shilanand Kerketta, organised the training. Twenty-two young Salesians, including 20 priests and 2 Brothers, participated in the programme.

Kolkata Provincial Father Joseph Pauria urged young Salesians to reflect on article 31 of Salesian Constitutions, which highlights the holistic development of the young. Father Christy discussed Educating Young to Faith, Counselling, Volunteerism, and the Visibility of the Salesian Youth Movement. Father Shilanand highlighted the Community Experience, Preventive System, Salesian Spirituality, Salesian Educative and Pastoral Project. Father Patrick gave an overview of Young people in the Indian Scenario today and Developing a Planning Attitude and Oratorian Heart in Youth Ministry.

The Social Communication delegate of Kolkata, Father Arvind Khalkho, spoke on Social Media for Youth Ministry: Encountering the Young in Virtual Spaces and Brother Raju Toppo, working in Africa, on working with youth of different cultures. On September 15, the trainees celebrated the Holy Eucharist at the Tomb of St. Teresa of Kolkata.
