News written by: Thoombalan Babu Varghese
Keeping the spirit of the Don Bosco Green Alliance alive, 500 students of the Senior Secondary classes of Don Bosco School, Kokar, Ranchi planted 500 rose plants. They participated actively in the programme under the supervision and guidance of the Principal, Father Babu Varghese and Preet Prakash. The awareness programme organized in the school has sensitized the students about ecology and their role in collaborating with God as part of Eco-spirituality. They have decided to be a new generation of environmentally committed citizens.
Taking the lead in rethinking environmental responsibilities, the school has beautified the campus, repainted all the statues in the campus, renovated the garden depicting Don Bosco`s dream at the age of nine and maintained the lush green lawns. Speaking after the plantation of roses, Dorish, a Class XII student, said, ``It is a day worth remembering. We have learnt more about the environment today than in the classroom. `` Father Varghese said, ``Don Bosco School, Kokar, has initiated these programmes, to express our commitment to creating a green campus. It emphasizes the importance of environmental sustainability and highlights the interconnection between nature and human beings.`` The school campus has now become a treat for the eyes of the students and visitors.
