Kuravilangad, 12 January 2020 — A two-days `residential training-cum-evaluation meeting` of the hospitality trainees of Don Bosco Youth Centre (DBYC) Itanagar working in various resorts in the state met at Kuravilangad near Kottayam, Kerala, from 10th to 11th January.
Thirty-three representatives from 11 four star and five star category resorts took part. A high point of the interaction was a testimony given by the matric-completed Meena Tsungkurang from Pasighat who presently works as Duty Manager at Holiday Inn Hotel in Mumbai. Attending the event, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Itanagar Mr Kime Aya IPS commended the initiative of the DBYC in bringing together the representatives of youth trained and placed by the DBYC in the past three years. Interacting with the participants, Aya congratulated them for moving out of Arunachal and treading unfamiliar paths. ``The road less travelled will make all the difference in your lives,`` he said. Aya advised the participants to get in touch with him if ever they require any assistance from the Arunachal Pradesh Police. DBYC director Father Cyriac who was instrumental in their training and placement said assuring the youth, ``We are not training you for earning an income, but give you a future and we will be with the youth of Arunachal and North East in your existential struggles at all times.`` He also expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister of Arunachal Mr. Pema Khandu and his government that has always supported the DBYC activities. Father Cyriac who has always shown pro-active leadership in the training of Arunachal youth did not shy away from placing on record a national corporate entity which partnered with DBYC for training of youth and did not honour the MoU with DBYC and make the payment for the training which put DBYC into immense financial stress. The two-days programme also featured `resort-wise interaction with the DBYC director`, besides counseling for interested candidates. DBYC Itanagar has been conducting similar out reach programmes in other cities too, most recent one being in Chandigarh.
