YOUTH PASCH 2017

Chennai (INM) and Tiruchy (INT) provinces jointly organized Youth Pasch 2017 at Don Bosco Camp Site, Yelagiri Hills, Vellore District from 13 April - 16 April 2017. 88 youth from both the Provinces participated in the Pasch. It was a joint venture to give a proper understanding and teaching of the Catholic Faith to the youth. Fr. Antony Christy and Fr. Mani Lazar were the main animators of the programme. Fr. Parthiban, Fr. Selvakumar, Fr. Barnabas, Br. Clement and Sr. Mary Putti were in charge of the groups as the participants were divided into seven groups and they facilitated the Group living experiences of the youth. Fr. Alex, Fr. Kamalesh, Fr. Selvaraj, Fr. Francis Xavier were available for confession and spiritual guidance. Fr. Pinto celebrated the Easter Vigil Mass and baptized a youth who grew up under his spiritual guidance in his youth group at Don Bosco Youth Centre, Madurai. The baptism of the youth was a witnessing experience to the spiritual journey of the young people present for the Youth Pasch.
Fr. Antony Christy animated on biblical and liturgical significance of the Paschal Mystery and Fr. Mani Lazar prepared the young for good confession connecting the Ten Commands into the everyday life of the youth. On Holy Saturday a meditation on Death was organized to help the young to identify the purpose and meaning of their life. Each participant went through the exercise of death experience and shared their reflection on the exercise. They gained a wonderful insight on life from the exercise and resolved to live henceforth a purposeful and meaningful life. At the end of the Youth Pasch, as a group made three referendum to be practiced till next Youth Pasch 2018. They were; To control anger and be loving; To be regular for confession and To participate regularly and devoutly the Sunday Eucharist. A proper explanation for each paschal event of the Holy Week was given to the youth and from there the youth were assisted for the preparation and the meaningful celebration of each paschal event. On the Easter Sunday, the youth went for an outing and returned home gaining a rich experience of the Paschal Mystery.
