News written by: Antony Christy SDB
"Youth Awake 2016" came to a grand finale on 20th November 2016, with a day-long retreat at Lourdes' Shrine, Perambur, Chennai. ``Youth Awake`` was one of the creative responses of the youth of Chennai to make the Year of Mercy a meaningful experience in their life. It consisted of youngsters from various Salesian parishes and institutions in Chennai who voluntarily came together every month for a night vigil of prayer and reflection on the theme of the Year of Mercy.
The nine-month long experience of living the Year of Mercy in depth has left a deep impression on the youngsters. "It was an experience of renewal and spiritual reawakening for me. I`m so glad I had this opportunity," said one of the participants, while sharing about his personal experience of the nine monthly vigil services he took part in.
Youth Awake was organized by the Provincial Youth Services team under the leadership of Father Mani Lazar and the Catechetical Department of the Province, headed by Father Antony Christy, in collaboration with the other provincial animation teams. More than 300 young people participated in the concluding celebration on 20 November.
