Don Bosco Vidivelli, Kalavasal, hosted six days of spirited cricket as the Don Bosco Premier League (DPL) 2026 brought together 32 teams and around 750 youngsters from four districts. The tournament combined competitive sport with fellowship and youth development.

Organised by the Don Bosco Youth Group, Kalavasal, under the leadership of Fr. Aldon, Youth Director, the tournament sought to promote sportsmanship, teamwork, discipline, leadership and friendship among young people.

Held in August, the tournament featured teams from Madurai, Virudhunagar, Tuticorin, and Tenkasi districts. Their enthusiastic participation showed the growing interest among youngsters in cricket and the value of organised, constructive avenues to nurture their talents.

After closely contested matches, Today’s Kings emerged champions of DPL 2026, displaying consistency and determination throughout the tournament. Their achievement was celebrated at the valedictory programme, which also acknowledged the sporting spirit and contribution of all participating teams.

The valedictory function was held on August 30 at Don Bosco Vidivelli, Kalavasal. Fr. Casimir, Youth Director of the Salesian Province of Trichy, was the chief guest and distributed prizes to the winners and participating teams. He also encouraged the youngsters to make the best use of opportunities that foster talent, discipline and personal growth.

Fr. Vimalan, Rector of Don Bosco Vidivelli, congratulated the winners and urged the participants to continue developing their talents through sports. He appreciated the efforts of Fr. Aldon, the Don Bosco Youth Group, organisers, volunteers and others whose contribution ensured the successful conduct of the tournament.
