B.E.S.T. Centre Equips Women to Move from Learning to Earning
Sixty-six women trainees of the Bosco Education and Skill Training (B.E.S.T.) Centre, Shirhatti, Karnataka, moved a step closer to economic independence through a “From Learning to Earning” session on August 10.
The programme was designed to help graduates of the centre’s computer and tailoring courses make a confident transition from vocational training to employment through career readiness and employability. It encouraged the women to turn their newly acquired skills into sustainable livelihood opportunities and greater financial independence.
Moving beyond technical training, the programme placed strong emphasis on employability skills essential for succeeding in today’s workplace. To support the session’s goal, the participants received practical guidance on identifying suitable job opportunities, navigating online job portals, tracking local job fairs and preparing effectively for job interviews.
A major highlight of the session was the hands-on “Data Camp”, which enabled the trainees to build their professional digital profiles. During the workshop, they learned to prepare concise, one-page resumes that highlighted their B.E.S.T. certifications, vocational competencies and soft skills.
The participants were also introduced to the Don Bosco Job Placement Network (DBJPN) and assisted in creating active profiles on donboscojobs.org. This provided a structured avenue for connecting trained job seekers with ethical employers offering employment opportunities suited to computer and tailoring graduates.
