Salesian Co-operators Elect New Regional Leadership at Shillong Congress

The Association of Salesian Co-operators (ASC), Shillong Province, elected Mr Manoj Jamatia as Regional Coordinator and Mr Raju Lal Deb Barma as Vice Coordinator for a three-year term at its Annual Regional Congress on Sunday at Mary Help of Christians Parish, Don Bosco School, Mandwi. The congress also brought together promised Co-operators, Aspirants, and Salesian animators for prayer, formation, and leadership renewal.
The event drew 64 promised Co-operators and 24 Aspirants, making it one of the Association's largest regional gatherings in recent years. Provincial leadership present included Fr. Joseph Anikuzhikattil, SDB, Provincial Delegate for the Salesian Family, along with Provincial Coordinator Kong Ireland Doonai, Provincial Administrator Kong Purnima Khonsit, Provincial Formator Bah Bhabok Kharkulai, and Provincial Councillor Bah Marius Kharkongor.
The formation sessions focused on strengthening the participants' understanding of their vocation and mission within the Salesian Family. Facilitators included Fr. Joseph Anikuzhikattil, SDB; Kong Ireland Doonai; Fr. Joseph P.J., SDB; Fr. Joseph Palamthattel, SDB; and Sr. Marcellina Sangma, FMA, who encouraged reflection and active participation.
Sr. Victoria Saioo and Sr. Rihun Sten, FMA, served as local delegates and accompanied the programme, supporting the animation of the regional Co-operator community throughout the day.
The newly elected office-bearers received a warm welcome from the assembly, and the provincial leadership assured them of continued guidance and collaboration as they assume responsibility for strengthening the Association's mission and activities across the region over the next three years.
