Demonstrating its stature as a leading centre of vocational training, Don Bosco Centre for Learning (DBCL), Kurla, hosted the prestigious India Skills 2025 | Maharashtra State Finals on February 3–4, 2026. The competition was organized by the Maharashtra State Skill Development Society (MSSDS) and the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), in strategic partnership with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and the Skill India Initiative.

The state-level finals aimed to identify and elevate Maharashtra’s finest young technical talent through rigorous, industry-aligned assessments that reflect global competency standards. Participants competed in a high-pressure environment that simulated real-world industrial conditions, underscoring the technical precision and professional discipline demanded by contemporary industry.
 
The inaugural ceremony on February 3 was graced by Shri Mangal Prabhat Lodha, Hon’ble Minister for Skill, Employment, Entrepreneurship, and Innovation, Government of Maharashtra. Among the distinguished dignitaries present were Mr. Amit Saini, IAS, Chief Executive Officer of MSSDS; Mr. Bobby Kuriakose, Convener, CII Maharashtra; and Mr. Satish Suryawanshi, Joint Director, Directorate of Vocational Education and Training (DVET).
 
Mr. Amarr Prabhu, Principal of Don Bosco Industrial Training Institute (DBITI), anchored the inaugural proceedings with both the opening and concluding addresses, highlighting the institution’s commitment to excellence in skill development and industry integration.
 
Over two days, contestants demonstrated advanced technical skills across multiple trades, competing for the chance to represent Maharashtra at the regional and national levels. The event serves as a gateway for progression toward the national championships and ultimately the global WorldSkills arena, positioning young professionals on an international platform.
 
The competition concluded with a grand valedictory ceremony on February 4, attended by an eminent panel of guests including Mr. Vinay Katiyar, Collector of Mumbai Suburban; Ms. Vaishali Srivastava, Regional Director, CII Western Region; Mr. K. Nandakumar, Chairman and Managing Director, Chemtrols Industries Pvt. Ltd.; and Mr. C.S. Murthy, Regional Director, RDSDE.
 
Fr. Anthony Pinto, Rector and Director of DBCL, along with Mr. Amarr Prabhu, Principal, DBITI, felicitated the winners and runners-up from each trade with medals and certificates, officially qualifying them for the upcoming regional-level competitions.
 
In their addresses, speakers emphasized that the precision, innovation, and technical rigour displayed at DBCL reflect the evolving aspirations of India’s industrial ecosystem. The Maharashtra State Finals not only celebrated technical mastery but also reinforced the critical role of skill development in shaping the nation’s economic future.
