Faith Educators Gather for Revival and Renewal in God’s Service
In a vibrant spirit of revival and renewal, catechists and faith educators from across the Salesian Province of Hyderabad came together for the Empowering Faith Educators Program held on November 6–7. The two-day gathering, themed “A Call to Revival and Renewal in God’s Service,” sought to strengthen the catechetical mission through reflection, sharing, and skill development.
Organized by the Bosco Institute of Research and Development for Youth (BIRDY), Hyderabad, the program brought together more than 30 faith formators—ranging from seasoned educators with over four decades of ministry experience to young catechists embarking on their formative journeys. The event became a meeting ground for pastoral insights, where rural and urban experiences enriched collective reflection and dialogue.
During the inaugural session, Fr. Kishor, the Vice-Provincial, commended the participants for their unwavering dedication to faith formation and encouraged them to remain rooted in spiritual renewal. Fr. Noel offered a general orientation, underscoring the importance of ongoing personal and pastoral revival in the mission of catechesis.
A series of sessions followed, covering diverse and timely topics: Challenges of Catechists and Catechetics by Fr. Carlo, Church’s Guidelines on Synodal Catechetics by Fr. Joji, Using the Bible in Catechetical Ministry by Fr. Paulraj H.S., Catechetical Ministry Today by Fr. Johannes, and Digital Faith Expression by Fr. Sudhakar. In addition, Bro. Jack led a practical session on Preparing for Liturgy and Sacraments.
The event also integrated moments of prayer, Eucharistic celebrations, rosary recitations, and the sharing of personal faith experiences—strengthening both the spiritual depth and communal bonds among participants.
Marking the 150th Anniversary of the First Salesian Missionary Expedition, the gathering reaffirmed Don Bosco’s missionary spirit in the contemporary call to evangelize through education. It also aligned with one of the Hyderabad Province’s pastoral priorities—Capacity Building for Staff and Faith Formators—ensuring that those who teach the faith continue to be renewed in the service of God and His people.
