‘Dandiya Dhamaal’ Brings Festive Cheer to Women and Girls in Wadala
Shelter Don Bosco, in collaboration with the Salesian Sisters of Wadala and the Suraksha Migrant Desk in Matunga, hosted a lively “Dandiya Dhamaal” celebration for women and girls from disadvantaged and migrant backgrounds on Saturday at Auxilium School, Wadala.
The colourful evening drew over 200 participants who immersed themselves in traditional Garba and Dandiya Raas dances, moving to the rhythms of festive beats. Laughter, music, and playful banter filled the air as participants also enjoyed a series of engaging games that added to the celebratory mood.
The event was more than just a cultural festivity — it was designed to provide women and girls with a safe, joyous space away from their daily struggles. For many participants, it was a rare opportunity to set aside their challenges and embrace moments of freedom and happiness.
Organizers emphasized that such initiatives highlight the commitment of Salesian institutions to the psychosocial well-being of vulnerable communities. By creating avenues for leisure and togetherness, they underscored the importance of joy and respite in nurturing dignity and resilience among women and migrant families.
