DBITI Kurla Hosts Record-Breaking 36th Work-Skills Competition
Don Bosco Industrial Training Institute (DBITI), Kurla, played host to the 36th edition of the prestigious Work-Skills Competition organized by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) on September 24 and 25.
The event saw a record participation of 232 employees from leading corporates including Godrej, Hyundai, Stanley Black & Decker, Mahindra, and Schindler. This year marked the highest number of participants from the Western region ever recorded.
The competition, conducted across 31 skill categories such as CNC Turning and Milling, Mechatronics, PLC, Electronics, and Robotic Welding, tested participants entirely on practical tasks. DBITI designed the papers in line with India Skills standards, ensuring national-level rigour and benchmarking. The top three performers in each category will qualify for the upcoming National Work-Skills Competition in Bangalore.
Dr. Nandkumar K., Founder and Managing Director of Chemtrols Industries Ltd., lauded DBITI for its world-class infrastructure and underscored the importance of adapting to emerging technologies, especially Artificial Intelligence. “Competitions like these must showcase true skills while preparing technicians for the future,” he said.
Mr. Amarr Prabhu, Principal of DBITI, highlighted the encouraging rise in women’s participation this year. He urged participants to learn from one another and foster a spirit of collaboration.
The event concluded with certificates and medals being presented to winners by Dr. Nandkumar K. and Ms. Vaishali Srivastava, Regional Director, CII Western Region.
