The Department of School Education, Government of Tamil Nadu, has announced the state-wide screening of the recently released documentary film "Beno Zephine" in all schools during December 2024. Directed by Father Ernest Rosario and produced by the Don Bosco Institute of Communication Arts (DBICA), the film chronicles the remarkable journey of Ms. Beno Zephine, India's first 100% visually challenged Indian Foreign Services (IFS) officer.

This initiative aligns with "The International Day of Persons with Disabilities," which is observed annually on December 3rd. The screening aims to inspire and empower students by showcasing Ms. Zephine's resilience and determination, highlighting her ground-breaking achievements in overcoming significant challenges to serve the nation.
The Director of the Tamil Nadu School Education Department has issued an official circular to all school principals, mandating the organization of screening as part of the state's efforts to motivate young minds through real-life stories of success and perseverance.

"I am delighted to hear this wonderful news and deeply grateful to the Department of Education for their efforts to inspire students through the power of media," said Father Ernest Rosario, Director of the documentary. "It brings me immense joy to see the hard work of our team recognized and put to meaningful use. This initiative is both an honour and an incredible opportunity to leverage media for inspiration and motivation for young minds across the country, especially in an age where the digital world is inundated with a mix of positive and negative content," he said.

Father Ernest has previously directed another acclaimed documentary, Transcender, which portrays the inspiring journey of Prithika Yashini, India's first transgender police officer. The film received widespread recognition, earning nominations at numerous International Film Festivals, including the prestigious British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA). In 2019, the National Human Rights Commission of India (NHRC) also honoured Transcender with an award and recognition.
