Youth on cleanliness drive in Ahmednagar
The youth from the three Salesian parishes in Ahmednagar organised a cleanliness drive at Chand Bibi Mahal, Ahmednagar, on August 13 in preparation for Independence Day. With masks and hand-gloves fifty-five youth from the three Salesian parishes in town, namely, Don Bosco Church, St Anne’s Church, and St John’s Church with Salesian Father James Tusacno, Father Vishawas Pereira, Father Ajay D’ Monte and Father Richard Burkhao initiated the cleaning drive.
Chand Bibi Mahal, a historical site near Ahmednagar, is where the tomb of one of the famous ministers of Murtaza Nazam Shah I, Salabat Khan, exists. Several people visit this historical site during the year, especially on Independence Day. Keeping this in mind and harbouring the feeling of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, the youth with the Salesians took up the venture to clean the beautiful historical site to welcome the visitors.
The enthusiastic youth were happy to be part of the unique social outreach. Mr Devashish Bhosle said, “I felt very happy to be part of this drive because it gave me a feeling of pride and a sense of responsibility towards my country.” Expressing her view, Ms K. B. Seerena said, “It was a wonderful experience to be with so many youth. More than the event, it was wonderful to be with each other’s company.”
With pride, Ms Rutuja Shelke said, “Not only today, but we should always keep our country clean. And not only our surroundings but also our minds should be kept clean to help our country grow.”
