DBICA organized a Seminar on ``Children & Media`` at Salesian Institute of Graphic Arts (SIGA), Kilpauk on 22nd January 2014. The special chief guest cum young moderator of the seminar was `Ms. Ankitha Nambiar` who is an Anthropology Student from University of Madras.
DBICA organized a Seminar on ``Children & Media`` at Salesian Institute of Graphic Arts (SIGA), Kilpauk on 22nd January 2014. The special chief guest cum young moderator of the seminar namely `Ms. Ankitha Nambiar` who is an Anthropology Student from University of Madras. The Program commenced around 9.30 am with the welcome speech by Fr. Harris sdb, Director of DBICA, who insisted the importance of media in the life of children. We had the participation of 16 speakers representing from various Schools. We had also participants numbering around 350 from 15 schools in Chennai. The children passionately delivered their talks with their insights on various topics like `Media in your life`, `Social Media - A boom or a curse`, `Cell phone and their effects on young people`,` Cinema - a fantasy or Reality`, `Media in your family`. The whole session was enthusiastically animated by the moderator Ankitha Nambiar so much, so the children seated were spell bound all through the session. The seminar encouraged the students to come up with new ideas. Majority of the audience expressed that these days movies are not realistic and they would like to see more realistic movies. This is the felt need of the younger generation. Innovative PowerPoint presentation was given by Vinod, a student from St.Bede`s Anglo Indian Hr.Sec.School, Santhome. Very insightful speakers such as Khizar Mohammad from Don Bosco, Egmore & Vishwa Priyadarshini from St.Francis Xavier, Alwarpet attracted the crowd by their potential speech. After the presentation of the student speakers, the moderator consolidated the insights of the speakers saying that, ``Media is neutral and it becomes bad or good with the perceptive vision of the individual``. DBICA encouraged the speakers with the certificates and the mementos. Ms. Osanna, a student of Our Lady`s Mat.Hr.Sec.School, came impulsively and thanked DBICA for the valuable seminar. The seminar was concluded with the national anthem around 1.00 pm.
