Don Bosco comes to Chitradurga

News written by: George Mathew
Don Bosco has become a household name in Chitradurga and the people could now get to see and be with this saint as well as come to know and love him more.
The sacred relic of St John Bosco reached Chitradurga on 1 September, 2011 at about 2.30 p.m. The casket was then transferred to an open vehicle to facilitate a procession in the city. On reaching Don Bosco, the first programme was in the schools for the academic communities: students and their parents as well as the beneficiaries of the social outreach programmes came in to pay respects to Don Bosco. Don Bosco, the person and his message, were brought across to the gathering through performances by the students. The concelebrated Eucharist celebrated in the chapel towards evening was presided over by Msgr. Felix Noronha, the Vicar General of the diocese of Shimoga. The Vicar General expressed happiness and appreciation for bringing the relics to all the three civil districts served by the diocese of Shimoga. The confreres and the inmates spent several hours of the night in vigil which concluded with a very early Mass.
