Training and Exposure Programme for SHG

New Delhi 08th-10th October: BOSCO Delhi organised a three days residential training programme for the members of Self Help Groups working across six states namely Delhi, U.P, Jharkhand, Chattisgarh, Orissa and Punjab. 27participants came from the remote villages of these places.

Fr. Jose Mathew (Director-Bosco), in his inaugural address, highlighted the importance of self help for the rural and marginalized people particularly women. He equally emphasized the need of working together in order to bring the desired changes in the lives of poor and deprived.
Mr. K.B. Linto (National Coordinator) started the session by brainstorming all the expectations of the participants and the need for value addition in the SHG groups. He also dealt with the ways and means of bringing professionalism in the team as well as in the groups. This was followed by session on promotion of entrepreneurship and enterprise among SHG members facilitated by Mr. Barajesh Sharma and Mr. Deep Chandra (BYST) along with interaction with two successful entrepreneurs supported by BYST.
Second day`s 1st session was on Legal Awareness on Domestic Violence, Right to Information & Right to Education which was facilitated by Mr. Ashok Kumar Pandey (Consultant). This was followed by a session on SHG & SMEs and importance of federation. The successful models of other organizations were shared in a separate session facilitated by Mr. Shaji Mathew (Consultant).
On the third and final day, Mr. George Louis (Bosco) facilitated a discussion and sharing on personal and professional growth through development programmes. He emphasized the need of bringing the desired behavioral and attitudinal changes in self and to learn the required skills in order to work effectively and efficiently at the grass root level. The programme concluded with a detailed discussion on six months action plan submitted by the coordinators and supervisors of each region. All the members were taken to Dilli Haat for exposure visit.
At the end of the programme the participants shared their learning and new experience out of the programme and requested to organize such programme every year. The training programme gave ample opportunity to the members from all over the places to interact and share their experiences and ground reality of their locations.
