Bosco Gramin Vikas Kendra (BGVK) organised a vibrant Children’s Gathering on February 22 as part of its project “Livelihood, Nutrition and Education in Rural Maharashtra,” supported by Salesian Missions. The event brought together nearly 260 students from Classes 1 to 4, representing 11 villages in the Ahilyanagar region, transforming the venue into a lively space of joy, colour, and shared celebration.

The gathering was conceived as a platform to promote the holistic development of children enrolled in the remedial education centres run by Bosco Gramin Vikas Kendra. While the ongoing project focuses on improving academic performance, nutrition, and overall well- being, the special event aimed to nurture creativity, self-confidence, and social interaction among rural children who often have limited opportunities for such collective experiences.

The programme was coordinated by the BGVK staff in close collaboration with remedial class teachers who accompany the children throughout the year. Don Bosco novices currently engaged in rural exposure in Ahilyanagar played an active role in organising and animating the event. Their enthusiastic involvement brought renewed energy to the programme and strengthened the bond between the Salesian formation community and the rural families served by BGVK.

The day began with a warm welcome and an inspiring message from the Director, who encouraged the children to view education as a pathway to a brighter future. Emphasising discipline, perseverance, and self-belief, he reminded them that consistent effort can help overcome challenges and turn aspirations into reality.

One of the most engaging highlights of the gathering was a lively magic show that captivated the young audience. Laughter, applause, and expressions of amazement filled the venue as the children enjoyed what was, for many, a rare and unforgettable experience.

A major feature of the event was the cultural dance performances presented by children from each village. Dressed in colourful attire, the young participants confidently showcased traditional dances, fostering pride in their cultural heritage and strengthening inter-village camaraderie.
