Don Bosco Mirik Honours Alumni for Academic Excellence
Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Mirik, marked a proud milestone by felicitating 11 alumni who secured admission to premier medical and engineering institutions over the past four years. The ceremony, held in the school auditorium, celebrated the achievements of students who cleared competitive entrance examinations, including NEET, All India JEE, and West Bengal JEE.
Rector Fr (Dr.) Mathew Pulingathil and Principal Fr Solomon Rai led the event, presenting commemorative mementoes to the achievers. All but one of the honourees were present, their success drawing admiration from faculty, students, and parents.
Among those recognized were four NEET qualifiers, one All India JEE entrant, and six West Bengal JEE qualifiers. Remarkably, most succeeded in their very first attempt—an inspiring accomplishment in a region with five other Higher Secondary schools and limited access to urban coaching resources.
“This recognition is not just for individual excellence,” said Principal Fr. Solomon Rai. “It is a testament to the collective spirit of our school community that nurtures dreams against all odds.”
Established in 1982, Don Bosco Mirik was recognized as a Junior High School in 2005, upgraded to a High School in 2009, and elevated to higher secondary status in 2017, offering Science and Arts streams. Its journey reflects a steadfast commitment to nurturing talent and expanding educational opportunities in the Darjeeling hills.
