Kolkata Salesian Cooperators Attend Session on Family in Mirik
A group of seven Salesian Cooperators from Don Bosco School Park Circus, Kolkata, attended an insightful animation session on Family, led by Fr. Dr. Mathew Pulingathil, Rector and Parish Priest of Don Bosco School and Parish Mirik, on March 22.
The session emphasized the vital role of parents in shaping their children's lives, highlighting the importance of fostering a nurturing environment, encouraging children's endeavours, and demonstrating virtues of kindness, patience, and responsibility.
Former Novice Master and twice Rector of Salesian College Sonada and Siliguri, Fr. Mathew stressed that children learn by observing their parents and that parents should be role models, acknowledging their child's efforts and showing them love and appreciation. After the animation, during the Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, prayers were offered for the Salesian Congregation, Salesian Cooperators, family members, and all humanity.
"The animation served as a powerful reminder of the profound impact of familial bonds and parental guidance in shaping the next generation," said Fr. Francis Gomes, who accompanied the Salesian Cooperators of Don Bosco School Park Circus.
Mirik is a small hill town in Darjeeling district, at some 1,500 meters above sea level. In 1982, the Salesian mission was started for Nepali-speaking people there.
