Youth Embark on Spiritual Pilgrimage in Honour of Don Bosco
The youth of Nongstoin Parish, West Khasi Hills District, Meghalaya, undertook a spiritual pilgrimage to the Shrine of St. John Bosco in Sohra on Saturday to commemorate the birthday of Don Bosco and mark the Jubilee Year of Hope 2025.
Guided by Fr. Carmel Myrthong SDB and Br. Quirinus War SDB, the young pilgrims set out from Nongstoin Parish to deepen their faith and devotion to their patron saint. The journey reached its heart with the celebration of the Holy Eucharist, joined by the Don Bosco Technical School community from Shillong. The Mass was marked by prayer, thanksgiving, and shared faith, uniting the pilgrims in spiritual fellowship.
After the Eucharistic celebration, the youth gathered before the relic of St. John Bosco, where they prayed the Holy Rosary, entrusting their lives and aspirations to the saint’s intercession. A visit to the historic Sacred Heart Church in Sohra—built in 1905 by the Salvatorian Fathers and the oldest church in the area—offered the pilgrims a glimpse into the region’s Catholic heritage.
The pilgrimage was not only spiritual but also cultural. The youth took time to enjoy the breathtaking landscapes and natural beauty of Sohra, adding moments of joy and refreshment to their journey.
Filled with prayer, reflection, learning, and fellowship, the pilgrimage proved to be a memorable experience. For the youth of Nongstoin Parish, it became an occasion to renew their commitment to live in faith and hope, inspired by the example of St. John Bosco.
