Father Sebastian Kuricheal was born on March 1, 1959, in Kozha – Kottayam, Kerala. He came to North East India as a young boy. His journey of Salesian life began at Savio Juniorate, Shillong, in 1974. He made his first profession on May 28, 1978, and his perpetual profession on February 11, 1984, and was ordained a priest on December 27, 1986, in Kuravilangad, Kerala.

Father Kuricheal commenced his priestly journey as an assistant Parish Priest at Mawlai Parish, Shillong, from 1987 to 1990 and at Jirikyndeng from 1990 to 1992. Subsequently, he served as the Parish Priest of Jirikyndeng from 1992 to 2001. His mission led him to Haflong, where he served as an assistant Parish Priest from 2001 to 2004, later assuming the roles of Parish Priest and Principal of Don Bosco, Haflong, from 2004 to 2010. Transitioning as in charge of the Haflong community from 2010 to 2012, he concurrently served as the Principal of Don Bosco School, Haflong. In 2012, he took on the responsibilities of administrator and Vice Principal of Don Bosco School, Guwahati, and in 2014, he was appointed Rector and Principal of Don Bosco School, Panbazar, Guwahati. His commitment continued as he assumed the role of Provincial Council member, contributing diligently to date.

The installation of Father Kuricheal as the Provincial is tentatively scheduled for May 23, 2024, marking a historic moment as he takes charge as the 13th Provincial of the Salesian Province of Guwahati, continuing the legacy that began in 1959.
